Question:
How do I get my YouTube video to upload without getting 'Error' message?

I have tried to upload my HD video to YouTube almost 5 times now. It is a Quicktime file, MPEG-4 format, is 1080p by 720p, and it is 1.3 GB, although YouTube allows up to 2. The timer always begins at around 7 hours and continues to load, but every upload always stops at some point and says 'error'. I am getting extremely frustrated and have no idea what to do. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

If YouTube is displaying to you the generic message: "ERROR" while you are uploading,

it means that a "time-out" or a "run-time" error has taken place.

Problems like that are usually due to either your ISP, YouTube,

or a network "hub-&-spoke" between the two that is attempting

to send your uplink to YouTube's servers. Usually, the problem

is just temporary and often fixes itself quickly.

Another cause could be a weak, or spiked, internet connection.

One thing you could do is press your "F5" key (or the "Refresh"

icon) and then try your upload again. Bear in mind though, that

your connection to YouTube needs to be smooth and constant

throughout the entire upload process (meaning no interruptions

or hiccups), otherwise everything will screw-up again and you'll

have to redo it all over. Thus, if you have a wireless connection,

make sure that it is seamless, strong, and without fluctuations.

You may want to try by-passing your router, and instead using

a cable from your computer connected directly to your modem.

There is also the possibility that you're unknowingly sending to

YouTube a bad, false or corrupted "cookie" or that maybe your

"cache" is full. Therefore...1) exit out of YouTube, 2) exit out of

your web browser, 3) reopen that web browser anew, 4) do one

of the sequences below, 5) then shutdown and reboot.

Another possible cause of that dreaded unknown "error" is that

you may be doing other things on your computer while you are

uploading. Quit other running applications, or perhaps consider

uploading your video without the "progress bar" -- because that

involves extra back-&-forth interaction between you & YouTube.

Also, for the brief moment while you are uploading a video, you

can temporarily disable your antivirus and/or firewall -- because

you cannot get a virus from simply uploading a video.

And, finally, here is a Y!A question where someone essentially

"disabled" their IE addons. This allowed him to upload properly,

but then he wasn't able to watch some online movies or shows:

To Julian:

It's a ******* HD video, of course it's big.

To the question asker:

There are a lot of different uploaders on YouTube. On the upload page somewhere there should be a button that says something similar to "Try a different uploader" (I can't tell you exactly cos my internet's playing up at the moment). Click that and try uploading from there. :)

I haven't any thought... connection problems? per risk your internet settings are made to terminate any connection that lasts a definite quantity of time, or you have a corrupted document. it is under the shrink... how long is the video? If it is over 10 minutes long, you choose for a director's channel to characteristic it.

If you can't see videos online, you have to install the new version of Adobe Flash Player.

Here I got Adobe Falsh Player for free http://bit.ly/1sxRDM6
