How do I create a Youtube channel that doesn't display my full name?

Question

I created a new Gmail account today because my old one got hacked and screwed up. When I went to Youtube, my channel was still connected to the old email, so my open Gmail tab logged out of my new account and back in to the old one again. "Okay," I figured, "I'll just create a new Youtube channel, so I don't have to switch back and forth between Gmail accounts."

However, Google had automatically signed my Gmail up with Google+, so my Youtube channel, being connected to my Gmail, displays my full name. But I don't want my full name on Youtube, so I decided to disable Google+. HOWEVER, when I tried to upload a video or make any changes to my Youtube channel at all, a message came up that basically said, "You disabled your Google+ account, click here to enable it." Meaning, basically, that I have to have a Google+ account in order to have a Youtube channel.

I don't know what to do. I don't want my full name on Youtube, and I don't want a Google+ account, but I do want a Youtube channel. I could deal with the Google+ thing, I guess, if only I could modify my Youtube username so that my full name doesn't show up anywhere. I tried to do this, but it didn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I was also frustrated so I googled it, then found your question, I was taking the thing in to my own hands and I found it! :D



Go to your youtube, then go to settings, in the overview tab you will see "advanced" right next to your picture, click it.



You will see something like this "Create a username for this channel and hide the Google Profile information associated with it. !!!Create username!!!" <---- Click that.
