Question:
YouTube not working/videos won't play?

I keep receiving this message when trying to play YouTube videos: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

I have tried downloading the Flash Player 10, but it won't show up in my program files. My computer got a virus last weekend and my dad performed a recovery reboot on it which deleted almost all of my files on the computer. Previously, YouTube worked normally, but now I am having these problems (go figure). I have tried numerous things that people have suggested both here and on the YouTube Help Forum, including changing internet options, configuring my Norton Internet Security, and deleting browsing history, but to no success.

Does anyone have any suggestions? (If it helps, my browser is Internet Explorer 8. I do not have Firefox, but am thinking of downloading it to see if it will work on there.)

Do not use Internet Explorer.

IE is a terrible web browser and you are at a security risk every time you use it. Download Firefox, use that as your internet browser and your problem should be resolved.

Install Firefox or google chrome then install Flash Player Addon.

When Flash Player for Internet Browser is installed it will not appear in program files, check it in Control Panel.

Download the newest internet explorer than try to download flash again.
