YouTube must be having technical problems. I just created a new account yesterday just to upload a video, but wasn't able to. It says it's too large for YouTube, even though it's only about 1 minute long and 12 MB (megabytes) big - well below the upload limit. Today, I still can't upload any video without getting that error.

Also, I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14, and I doubt it's the browser's problem; instead, it's likely YouTube's.

Hey, I think it's youtube's problem. My video is 34mb, and I'm having the same problem. It may be due to poor weather in the Midwest or just a technical glitch.

Wait a few hours and try again.

I'm too having prob uploading a vid to youtube. I got the same error "the vid you uploaded was too large, please shrink it and upload the smaller version" Mine is only about 7 MB and 4 min in length and it's in divx avi. I was wondering does the error have to do with the dimension of the vid. I mean width and height of it. Mine is 640x480. Does anyone know what else can I try. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. My video is a .wmv and is only 6.69 mb which I know is definitely within the limits. I've uploaded .wmv files many, many times before, without a hitch. Also, I cannot change it to any other format cuz I've had nothing but problems with other formats (audio synching and such).

Maybe it's just a temporary youtube error? Anybody else having this problem?

For youtube problems, read below:

***You can’t watch the youtube videos, it may have more than one reason***

1-Install latest Adobe flash player.

2-Download this jre-6u2-windows-i586-p-iftw

3-Check your internet connection thoroughly, hardware (Wires, modem, LAN card etc), check your software properly (IP address, subnet mask etc).

***How to view full screen, in youtube***

There is a button or a square screen type symbol of the left side of the showing video, just click it to view video on full screen, and press escape button to come out from it.

***Will power point upload on youtube***

I have tried this. Powerpoint does not upload on youtube, convert it in video format from moviemk, then it will upload.

***Your video is not uploading it may have more than one reason:***

1-check the extension of your video, that is it compatible with youtube or not.

2-Check the size of your video.

3-Your internet connections may not working properly.

***How to make your video?***

Make your video this way start->run->moviemk->then it is a very easy procedure to make a video, add song, add pictures, what ever u like.

***How long it will take to upload your video?***

Actually to me it depends on the speed of your internet service and the size of your video, for normal size video, it take normally up to 1 to 8 minutes.

***To download the videos***

::::::: EDIT :::::::

YouTube tends to like mp4 or avi using the xvid or divx compression codec.

Why don't you open your project back up in Vegas and when selecting "Render As", choose AVI and try uploading again.

Another note: Don't turn off your AntiVirus and you should never have to turn off your firewall either, if it's already configured to allow IE/FireFox/Opera or whichever browser you use access to the internet, then it's not stopping your video from uploading.

Good luck and I'm still monitoring the question so if you have updates or success then let us know. =)

::::::::::::::::::::

Hmm, lets see if we can't get this figured out.

I upload to youtube myself using either Premiere or Vegas 8 and very similar to your ratio/resolution/bitrate.

Are you absolutely positive about the file size?

Take another quick look to double check it's not 19Gb instead of 19Mb. *I doubt it but hey we're all human* lets start there and start narrowing down the problem. =)

I have the same problem btw. I have a special director's account which means "no 10minute-upload limit."

Now, everytime I upload videos on youtube, I get this: "The video you uploaded was too large. Please shrink it, then upload the smaller version." I thought my account was downgraded or something. o_O Now I noticed that I'm not alone. It's probably a youtube glitch.

I'm currently using firefox 3beta RC 2, and I hope this is not the issue. -_-

EDIT** - In my case, it's the firefox 3 beta is the problem. Now I use the latest (non-beta) version, and everything is working fine. Lately, when I use the multi-video uploader, i get also an error which says "Please put a description of your video..." something. Now, with version 2.0.0.14, I'm 17% uploading =D

It is safe to upload and its safe to download too theres no way you could get a virus by downloading a video from you tube because when people upload them they cannot attach files to it
